My paintings are a combination of an extremely precise painting technique translating structures into recognizable ideas (Baroque Still Life etc,) or into complete Fantasies (Celebration). I developed the process over many years and many hours of exacting experimentation. I distill the process of painting into the finest, measurable and discreet individual increments. Each separate color element in my paintings, even ones measuring 1/8 inch by 15" is individually measured and painted as a separate and distinct unit, even if the unit is one of 20 closely related "tones" or "values". I pre mix colors measuring in the hundreds, testing them and making sure they are EXACTLY precise intervals. These intervals become part of larger structures after they have been painted one after the other. Each painting sometimes requires hundreds of these painted "intervals". The acrylic paint I use is painted as carefully as humanely possible to remove any indication that a Human Being painted them. Thier surfaces are similar to porcelain or the surface of a new car. As many as two hundred hours are required to complete a single painting. In my painitngs one might omagine that Seurat, Vasaerly, Juan Gris meets Chopin and produce offspring. However, they are mine alone. My years studying classical music and piano informed me that painting could be notated and precisely written down and that painting could be expressive but first come from an exact, measured and calculated language.
